Belden
Morse, the
Steeple Man, is a general contractor specializing in steeple work. He
grew up as a fisherman in Washington County Maine and has been in business
for 30 years. Noticing a similarity between working with boats and steeples
he made the transition to working on and restoring church steeples. Steeples
seemed to be just boats turned upside down in the sky. They are designed
to take on weather and shed water just like a boat does. Many of the steeples
in New England were built by boat-builders when fishing was not profitable. |
